Mathematical Cranks Mathematical Cranks by Underwood Dudley
Mathematical Association of America, 1992; paperback, 384 pages.
Underwood Dudley, as Professor at DePauw University, has received numerous letters and submissions from cranks over the years since 1967. Fortunately for the rest of us, he has kept the material and collected more from his colleagues to bring us a categorized, sober treatment of the crank material and the (mathematical) crank mind. An absolutely excellent resource for those interested in crankology, particularly towards mathematics.

Principia Discordia Principia Discordia by Malaclypse the Younger
Loompanics Unlimited, 1980; paperback, 100 pages.
The full title: Principia Discordia, Or, How I Found Goddess and What I Did to Her When I Found Her: The Magnum Opiate of Malacypse the Younger. This is the book that started off Discordianism, and helped inspire The Illuminatus! Trilogy.

The Book of the SubGenius The Book of the SubGenius by SubGenius Foundation
     Simon & Schuster, 1987; paperback, 184 pages.
The Church of the SubGenius reads vaguely as an offshoot of Discordianism, although perhaps somewhat less coherent (if that is imaginable).

Web Psychos, Stalkers, and Pranksters Web Psychos, Stalkers, and Pranksters by Michael A. Banks
The Coriolis Group, 1997; paperback, 376 pages.
From the author: "I wrote this book for anyone who's ever wondered about the strange things they may have encountered on the Internet -- and for those who may have been harrassed, threatened, stalked, or ripped off by any of the "Web psychos" wandering the Net. In it, I show you how to deal with those sorts of problems. The book also shows you how to avoid such problems altogether. There are also techniques for protecting your privacy, and quite a bit more."

DSM-IV DSM-IV by American Psychiatric Association
American Psychiatric Association, 1994; paperback, 886 pages.
The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition put out by the American Psychiatric Association "provides the only comprehensive classification of all recognized psychiatric disorders in print. This edition features increased emphasis on multicultural influences, development across the lifespan, and substance abuse disorders. More than 1,000 clinicians and researchers have contributed to the revision of this classic reference." Want to try to guess what's making a crank tick? This is the resource to use.

The Demon-Haunted World: Science As a Candle in the Dark The Demon-Haunted World: Science As a Candle in the Dark by Carl Sagan
Ballatine Books, 1997; paperback, 457 pages.
"Carl Sagan muses on the current state of scientific thought, which offers him marvelous opportunities to entertain us with his own childhood experiences, the newspaper morgues, UFO stories, and the assorted flotsam and jetsam of pseudoscience. Along the way he debunks alien abduction, faith-healing, and channeling; refutes the arguments that science destroys spirituality, and provides a 'baloney detection kit' for thinking through political, social, religious, and other issues."
