illucid Nigel Cook 2005 Dec 06
     ... gravitation . Big Bang . physics . electromagnetism . September 11 ...
"My first article appeared when I was 22, in the November 1994 issue of Electronics World, on electromagnetic pulse. Later I corresponded with Electronics World writer Ivor Catt on electromagnetism. Catt?s drive was motivated by a life saving discovery on computer cross-talk glitches. He had discovered a way to avert computer crashes completely in air traffic control systems while speeding them up sufficiently to spot potential collisions or terrorist activity automatically, and a version of his earlier computer wafer scale innovation had successfully come to market. His problem was that ?popular physics? authors were flooding the media with hype about backward time travel, 10 dimensional strings, parallel universes and Kaku flying saucer speculation, and were obviously lying that such unpopular non-testable guesses were science. A-level physics uptake falls by 4% per year!"

anti How to Become a Bad Theoretical Physicist 2005 Dec 06
     ... physics . resources ...
"Here is how to become a bad theorist: Compare yourself with Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Paul Dirac, or other celebrities in theoretical physics, and reach a conclusion in favor of yourself. Note that good theoreticians do not consider these famous physicists as saints; none of them were infallible, but the few instances where they could be corrected are well-known by historians of science, and do not have any effect on modern physics. ..."

"The Universe is self-creating and self-organizing and doesn?t require a designer, intelligent or otherwise. Everything that constitutes the Universe, and that?s everything, is the product of physical process and is composed of a material substance that we can call matter. That thing called energy is a manifestation of matter and is composed of matter. Everything also has a cause. To consider the possibility of acausality, that things can happen without a cause, is to embrace a magical and non-scientific perspective. So, although the Universe is intricately complex, it?s strictly materialistic and determined in every detail."

illucid Outlaw Map of Physics 2005 Oct 07
     ... physics ...
"Whatever the mathematics, if you do physics you WILL discuss the International System of Units, arguing for it or against it: physics is the quantitative science involving numerical values wed to units. Of the seven base units defining the International System, the four MKSA units and their derivatives can be used to map most of the physical quantities and the relationships among them. If you are not familiar with the best map of physics to be found, as the logical evolution of logarithm tables into many dimensions, as existing formulas of physics structured into lattices of logic, as the reaffirmation of graphical methods of fundamental constant adjustment, then you lack the best common ground for communication and you only think you know physics."

cranky Religion and Physics, XXI C. 2005 Jul 02
     ... physics . philosophy . religion ...
"Is there a God? Yes - whether or not? And if there is, who it (he)? Does the religion give the answer? ut there are a lot of religions and in different places - everyone beleives his or her own religion. Which of them to trust? Physics is another business. The laws of physics are fair everywhere. And they work irrespectively of any opinion of an individual. Is it possible to unite the laws of physics with religion? 20 years ago I was surprised with this question and doubtfully considered such an opportunity. However I had to change my point of view." In English and Russian.

cranky Pythagorean Physics 2005 Feb 12
     ... philosophy . physics ...
"Pythagorean Physics postulates the existence of a basic unit of matter, the Pythagorean atom. It deals with discreteness in favor of continuity. It considers both time and space to be absolute. Motion is a function of space and time. Unlike classical mechanics, Pythagorean Physics considers mass to be a variable and has a different concept of what a particle is. Pythagorean Physics employs an axiomatic system that incorporates both philosophy and science in order to achieve meaning. ... Scientists sometimes have a difficult time understanding the limits and validity of what they think they know. Neither the theory of relativity nor quantum mechanics employs an axiomatic system that can guard against such errors. Rather, they both superimpose notions for convenience. Pythagorean Physics follows an axiomatic system that starts with definitions and proceeds step by step from there in a logical fashion that provides meaning in a way that other approaches can not."

"Thus, SRT has it backwards. It assumes the apparent equivalence of inertial frames is real and uses that result, together with the magic of a universal speed of light, to derive length contraction and clock slowing. On the other hand, the ether theories use the length contraction and clock slowing to show that there is an apparent equivalence of all inertial frames and an apparent common universal speed of light."

crankiest Caroline Thompson's Physics 2005 Feb 12

"This site is about what is wrong with Fundamental Physics. It started with the discovery that we have been misled. We have been told that experiments agree with all the predictions of quantum theory, including those that involve the impossible - the Bell test experiments, that are supposed to show totally incomprehensible effects of separated particles on each other. I have looked at the evidence. The 'loopholes' that they know are present are large enough to allow for perfectly straightforward explanations, with no sign of 'non-locality'. I am led to suggest that perhaps there is other currently-accepted 'evidence' for both quantum theory and Einstein's relativity theories that needs re-investigation. (There is! See Forgotten History .) I am not talking of 're-interpretation', but of recognising that if we want to understand nature, not just produce 'predictions', the first step is to re-assess the facts, reject falsehoods."

illucid ANPHEON 2004 Nov 06
     ... physics . aether . grand unification ...
"In 1965 there was a theory published which explained the nature of matter and energy using the motions, refractions and reflections of pressure waves in a continuous, compressible, frictionless, fluid, material medium. The theory used well known principles of fluid dynamics and wave mechanics to explain the physical mechanisms of all basic matter and energy phenomena including: the quantum and the 'wave-nature' of matter; the mechanism of gravity, inertia, electricity, magnetism, and the nuclear forces; the formation and structure of the atom; the physical mechanisms of all observed Relativistic effects; and the physical explanation of Einstein's E=mc2. It thus simultaneously unified and explained the mechanisms of all of the disparate 'fundamental forces' of nature through the actions of a simple, fluid net pressure called 'sorce'. Sorce, being the source of all our energies, can also be thought of mnemonically as the primary single force enacting and giving rise to all the other secondary forces. Through the years the theory has evolved in its scope and depth. Along the way the concepts, figures and predictions made by this theory were confirmed. For instance: in 1965 the theory predicted the existence of slight deviations in the rate of change of the strength of all gravitational fields. In the 1980's confirmation was experimentally stumbled upon during tests of the earth's local gravitational field strength. The deviations were quickly explained away by adding two new forces, the (still highly controversial) fifth and sixth forces, to the collection of already abstract and isolated forces, thus furthering the distance to grand unification and adding more empty mathematical complexity to the overly abstract standard model. Sorce Theory, however, expected the anomalies as a direct consequence of its theoretical constructions."

crankier Nasty Little Truth About Spacetime Physics 2004 Sep 19
     ... physics . relativity ...
"Some of the most famous physicists in the world are not telling the truth about one of the most taken for granted concepts in scientific history. They are not telling us how they can come up with their fanciful time travel theories (wormholes, advanced and retarded waves traveling in spacetime, etc...) using a model of the universe that precludes the possibility of motion. Nothing can move in spacetime or in a time dimension-axis by definition. This is because motion in time is self-referential. It is for this reason that Sir Karl Popper compared Einstein's spacetime to Parmenide's unchanging block universe[*], in which nothing ever happens. The following is a short list of notorious time travel and spacetime crackpots, not necessarily in order of crackpottery. Some, like Hawking, Wheeler and Feynman, are venerated by the physics community and are considered by many to be among the most brilliant scientific minds that ever lived. Too bad they believe in time travel."

"This website contains all of the new physics, science and engineering work of Archimedes Plutonium. The layout of this website is the Beginning section with the hard core sciences listed as physics, chemistry, biology, astronomy, and mathematics. That is a ranking based on two criteria, one of subset and another of ability to verify truth of claims within the science. Then comes the Middle section which is applied hard core science or engineering. And finally is the End section of soft sciences listed as to closest-relationship to one another. Note that the start of this website is the Atom Totality theory and the end of this website is sci.religion which is apt, for think of the website rankings not as linear but as a circle coming back around. So we start with the hard core most general of all sciences and the most easily verified of all sciences-- physics and like a circle we come around to the worship of physics in sci.religion. Below in chemistry I have a circular periodic table, so think of the rankings on this website as sci.physics at the top and coming full circle back around is sci.religion which is basically the worship of physics since God is 231Pu and the best bible is the best most up-to-date physics textbook."

crankiest Metaphysics of Astrology: Astrological Signs 2004 Apr 06
     ... metaphysics . astrology . astronomy . philosophy . physics ...
"So how does this knowledge affect Astrology? Well it tells us that the planets do actually have some affect on our matter, and perhaps even more significantly, have a pronounced affect on the sun (causing cycles in its energy output) and thus cycles in our weather patterns. Thus it is quite reasonable that the position of the planets does subtly affect our evolution, and in particular certain aspects of our personality. I must admit that I did find remarkable similarities in my personality and the description of a Scorpio, as described in the section below on Astrological Signs. Likewise my partner Karene has a personality very consistent with her Libra sign (though this is irrelevant in terms of Science). We hope that you will enjoy this page on Astrology, and also hope that you find the Wave Structure of Matter an interesting explanation for how these distant planets can subtly affect our evolution and personality."

"The items on the web page have intention to affirm my theory directly and indirectly, too. My theory says that the gravitational field has origin in annulations of the electromagnetic field, i.e. that electromagnetic fields transmute to gravitational one. The presumption is based on the strong agreement between the SR theory and electrostatics theory. I had also shown that the Cherenkov formula could be derived by SR theory only. The derivation indicates that charged particles that are moving faster than light are magnetons because its charge has imaginary value that indicated to magnetic field in electromagnetic. Consequently, they are able to penetrate into nucleus without strong electrostatic interaction and in case Cherenkov particle is proton, it is able to cause p-p cold fusion reaction. It is also shown that the two Maxwell equations might be merged into one by multiplying one of them by imaginary unit. Such equation is extremely suitable for practical computation of the electromagnetic fields. I have also shown on this web pages that similar equation may be applied to gravitational field. I personally think that Maxwell equations are not true enough as it is shown on the proper item on this web page."

"'Don't quantise gravity, geometricate the quanta!' If a particle exhibits multiple properties these properties must arise from as yet more fundamental constituents or from the spacetime geometry of the particle. If, like space, time has three dimensions, and all spatial dimensions have equal orthogonality to all temporal dimensions, then fundamental particles could have the following spins and spacetime geometries to account for their various properties. Spins about various axes, and particle properties. Where s1, s2, s3 = spatial axes, t1, t2, t3 = temporal axes. ... Three dimensional time need not conflict with our experiences and observations, rather it may provide a basis for the probabilistic behaviour of matter and energy. See 8a. To simplify this paper numerically, the smallest unit of fundamental fermion chiral spin, h / 4 pi will appear as 1 rather than the conventional 1/2, and the electroweak charge on an electron will appear as -3 instead of the conventional -1, and thus the electroweak charges on quarks and anti-quarks will appear as -1 or 2 and 1 or -2 respectively."

cranky The Dark Matter Myth 2002 Oct 04
     ... physics . astronomy ...
"The shape of galactic rotation curves (i.e., the galactic rotation velocity as a function of the distance from the galactic center), has led astronomers to the conclusion that galaxies must be surrounded by an invisible massive halo of 'dark matter' which exceeds the visible mass by up to 10 times (see detailed review of this and related theories). The underlying assumption with this model is that gravity is the only force determining the dynamics of the galaxy. However, practically all rotation curves indicating the existence of dark matter have been obtained by observing the Doppler shift of gas (usually the 21 cm line of hydrogen) rather than of stars. It is generally assumed that the gas provides a tracer for the motion of the stars, but this assumption neglects the fact that ionized atoms are very much affected by electromagnetic forces: it is easy to show that with the generally assumed galactic magnetic field of 10-6 Gauss, the Lorentz force on a thermal proton is about 10 orders of magnitude stronger than the gravitational force (assuming a galaxy of the mass and size of the Milky Way) and should therefore completely determine the dynamics of the plasma, which in turn should also have an impact on the neutral gas because of recombination. Even a large additional amount of dark matter would therefore be insignificant for the galactic gas dynamics."

The latest update contains one of the clearest reasonings concerning 'conservation of momentum' understandings incorporated into the logic statements, to date! The GIT violates none of the valid 'laws' of physics, I've merely found a way to translate or 'force rectify' rotational spin accelerations, into an externally demonstrated (linear) acceleration force, by the use of a point mass motion profile that expresses both forms of momentum in each cycle! The supposed barrier between angular and linear momentum has fallen to 'yankee ingenuity'!"

Britt Beaubian's experiment consisted of putting a GIT on its side on a cookie sheet or 'rectangular cake pan' [Update May 4th, 2002] which was then put afloat in a bathtub. When the GIT was turned on, it moved forward and even after a backward impulse, it slowed to a stop and continued forward. You can find the videos on Britt's website. This experimenter believes that Britt Beaubian's results were the most compelling to date and it was hoped they could be reproduced, which they were. However, the conclusion is that the uni-directional movement was a result of wave action, clearly visible in Britt's video and the results here, and not an anomalous property of the GIT."

I have formulated these indications in the form of scientific hypotheses. These hypotheses may be unusual, they may even superficially appear to violate existing physical laws, but as far as I can tell as a physicist, their content has not been tested specifically enough to exclude them, i.e. the hypotheses have essentially to be tested in new experiments. For that purpose they have been carefully crafted to be both simple and specific enough to be experimentally verifiable or falsifiable in an exact, quantitative way. Newton's hierarchical picture, in which atoms with fixed and absolute properties move against a fixed background of absolute space and time, is quite dead. This doesn't mean that atomism or reductionism are wrong, but it means that they must be understood in a more subtle and beautiful way than before. Quantum gravity, as far as we can tell, goes even further in this direction, as our description of the geometry of spacetime as woven together from loops and knots is a beautiful mathematical expression of the idea that the properties of any one part of the world are determined by its relationships and entanglement with the rest of the world."

cranky Fields of force as multidimensional entities 2002 May 13
     ... physics . gravitation . particle physics ...
"The theory shows a unification of the fields of force using an unfamiliar concept of curved dimensions. In that concept, objects with a varying number of dimensions co-exist independently next to each other. It is assumed that an object can have dimensions that fall outside the scope of our 4-dimensional space-time. But it is also assumed that not all dimensions of this space-time necessarily participate in the dimensions that an object is actually built from. Based on these principles it will be shown that all fields of force can be ordered hierarchically based on their number of dimensions that 'overlap' our space-time. Interactions between fields will be described starting from the concept that all fields are basically equivalent. This results in the extrapolation of properties of one field into another field. Combined with the new concept of dimensions it will be shown that this leads to remarkably simple explanations for amongst others the propagation of the gravity field and the difference between fields of force with long and short range. Practical applications of this theory cover two theoretical methods to produce artificial gravity and a new view on the Big Bang that leads to the logical interpretation of what happened before it as well as the order in which fields of force and elementary particles must have been created." "Hi. Welcome to my web site. My name is Roger. I'm a biochemist, but one of my hobbies is thinking about infinite sets, philosophy, metaphysics and physics. Some of my ideas about these subjects are listed below. As with most ideas, mine are built on all the thinking that has come before me. So, I'd like to credit all those who have contributed in this area in the past and who are doing so today. Please forgive me if I do not reference everything directly. In developing these ideas, my philosophy has been to assume as little as possible, even about the most basic of things, and then try to develop logical and internally consistent ideas. Because I'm an amateur, many academics would consider me a 'crackpot' and dismiss the ideas out of hand. However, in reading these ideas, I hope that you consider them on their individual merits and not based on their amateur source. After the ideas, some links to other, not all related, sites are also listed."

Eventually, technical concepts are useful only if they can do something different, provide a better model, etc. Also, abstract mathematics is a wonderful exercise and set of models, but the physics is in the concepts which the mathematical symbols represent and which the mathematical operations manipulate. The physics is not in the mathematics itself, per se."

cranky Scientific Materialism 2001 Aug 11

"Materialism has been the foundational philosophy of many scientific geniuses throughout history and is the one common thread that unites many of the world's most significant scientific documents. Quite a few revolutionary intellects, including Democritus, Huygens, Newton, Herapath, Maxwell, and Boltzmann have helped carefully define the philosophy. Many others have used the basic tenets of Materialism in developing theories that have revolutionized our view of the Universe and now serve as the foundation of modern science. The atomic theory, the kinetic theory of gasses, statistical mechanics, Maxwell's field theory, and even the theory of evolution have all highlighted the importance of Materialist philosophy. The following treatise describes the basic postulates of Materialism and the principles and equations that follow therefrom. It comprises an effort to demonstrate that all phenomena, even the seemingly bizarre and recondite happenings described by quantum mechanics and relativity, can be incorporated within a Materialistic framework. This theoretical framework, unlike the mainstream view of modern physics, retains all of those aspects of science which past geniuses believed to be indelible. The evidence throughout all science suggests that the universe we live in is a deterministic and comprehensible one, and, as throughout all history, only those theories that are inductively strong and based on material causality will survive."

Since expanding velocity is invariant with dimension and unit of the pursued quantity, any pursuit system can perfect itself by 'Imitating Universe.'"

"By considering the proton a fundamental particle, many calculations have been thrown off balance, becoming complicated and confused. The calculations can still be made but they are laborious, the underlying basis is obscure, and false techniques such as renormalization are required to make the math come out right. Attempts to simplify things lead to new problems, and a plethora of transient particles (the 'particle zoo'). This new system proposes that the proton is not a fundamental particle but a combination of two particles, the neutron and the anti-electron, the anti-matter equivalent of the electron. This anti-electron is not the 'positron,' which was discovered in cosmic rays in 1932 and has positive mass, but the original anti-electron of Dirac, which had negative mass. There would have to be some way to isolate it more or less permanently, and this is what actually happens inside atoms."

"The eclipse of causality in 20th Century thought is one of the leading characteristics of this Dim Age. A revolt against causality began with influential 18th Century philosophers, notably Hume and Kant. The revolt grew throughout the 19th Century and, in the late 19th and early 20th Century it reached physics, where it gave rise to the two central theories of 20th Century physics: relativity and quantum mechanics. This may raise some hackles; for while quantum mechanics' disdain for causality is not the least controversial, relativity is usually regarded as a causal theory, a haven of sanity compared to quantum mechanics. Unlike quantum mechanickers, relativists don't crusade against causality; indeed, they occasionally appeal to it. Relativity's sins against causality are more subtle, but no less devastating."

The further that I inspected the notion though, the more clear it became to me that this particular pattern was indeed validly represented everywhere in nature.
