crankier The Surface of the Sun 2005 Jul 02
     ... astronomy ...
"For forty-five years, I too believed that the sun was a giant ball of gas. I was taught all about Galileo's observations and the gas model theory of the sun that NASA still promotes to this very day. That is the model I was taught in school, and that is the framework I've always tried to work with. During all that time I simply could not explain or comprehend the phenomenon I was seeing as I studied satellite images and videos provided through the various satellite programs that study the sun. ... I've watched these videos over and over again, using a variety of programs to display these files. After countless hours of carefully examining this footage, I've come to the conclusion that the sun indeed has an electrically conductive and highly defined surface which rotates (uniformly) every 27.3 days. In my opinion, this discovery of a solid surface is a very important breakthrough and represents a huge leap forward in our understanding of how the universe works."

"Since 1995 Nancy has led a campaign of paranoia and disinformation in an effort to convince the general public that a rogue planet will sweep past the earth causing devastation on a level previously unheard of to modern man. She has never in the years since offered any verifiable evidence to back up her claims. She has given one failed prediction after another."

cranky Ashmore's Tired Light Theory 2004 Sep 19
     ... astronomy . Big Bang ...
"Photons of light from distant galaxies have a longer wavelength than when they set off. This is known as 'redshift'. This is the experimental result -- but what this result means is open to interpretation. In the Big Bang theory, it is thought that this means that the Universe is expanding and the rate at which the Universe is expanding is known as the Hubble constant. But, Ashmore's paradox shows that this cannot be so."

"Censored books: Delicate Earth and Blindsided are not allowed to be sold in any major book store because of an on-going government conspiracy. This extremely serious subject is too hot to handle by the majority of the public according to the powers-that-be. Lies, partial-truths, attacks, denials, attempts at making this subject appear humorous, and mainly silence are a small portion of the tactics being used to suppress this knowledge. "This Theory was created in response to Toutatis Chaotic behaviour which will flyby Earth on September 29, 2004 at 12:45 a.m. on a Full Moon at 85 degrees angle. Scientific calculations of this magnitude is extremely complex which requires a very powerful computer. However, I have made it simplier by creating simple models. This is purposely intended to be understood by everybody of all levels."

crankier The Sirius Research Group 2004 Jul 10
     ... astronomy ...
"The objective of this site is to demonstrate as clearly as possible that the phenomenon of the Precession of the Equinoxes is actually the effect of our entire solar system orbiting the Sirius system. The scientific evidence presented here suggests that this is a reasonable assertion. By carefully analyzing the mathematical relationship that exists between Earth's sidereal year, the tropical (equinoctial) year and our civil calendar, it will become evident that the theory of lunisolar precession is a fallacy of scientific reasoning."

crankiest Metaphysics of Astrology: Astrological Signs 2004 Apr 06
     ... metaphysics . astrology . astronomy . philosophy . physics ...
"So how does this knowledge affect Astrology? Well it tells us that the planets do actually have some affect on our matter, and perhaps even more significantly, have a pronounced affect on the sun (causing cycles in its energy output) and thus cycles in our weather patterns. Thus it is quite reasonable that the position of the planets does subtly affect our evolution, and in particular certain aspects of our personality. I must admit that I did find remarkable similarities in my personality and the description of a Scorpio, as described in the section below on Astrological Signs. Likewise my partner Karene has a personality very consistent with her Libra sign (though this is irrelevant in terms of Science). We hope that you will enjoy this page on Astrology, and also hope that you find the Wave Structure of Matter an interesting explanation for how these distant planets can subtly affect our evolution and personality."

illucid About the true structure of the Solar System 2004 Feb 26
     ... astronomy . quantum mechanics . numerology ...
"We do not know the time that will need the science for to assume that our Solar System is a quantum system. It will probably be more time a doctor will take meditating, if he notices an accidental difficulty. To demonstrate it, a base will be used with levels of uniform units, that will have to jump from a measure to the following one. Intermediate measures do not exist between the levels. This condition is characteristic of being quantum system. On the other hand, this system provides a relationship between the frequencies of the octaves and the frequencies of the electromagnetic waves. Contributing new tries, to coexist phenomena in structure. In the first part, it was shown the succession of squares and inscribed circles that can see in preceding figure."

"To a small degree, the purpose of this web site is to alert a handful of you -- repeat, a few -- that a cataclysmic event may occur on earth around late May or early June. Those few are the ones with a vague sense that something big is just around the corner. The rest of you already know what's coming and you found this site through other sources. That said, the primary function of this site is to serve as a communications vehicle for the few of us in northeast PA who've already been informed, by whatever means, that an earthshaking event is imminent, an event that will shake the foundations of our lives and determine what we're really made of."

crankiest Did NASA Accidentally "Nuke" Jupiter? 2003 Dec 15
     ... astronomy . nuclear physics ...
"NASA's decision to finally terminate Galileo via a fiery plunge into Jupiter, was designed in 2002 to prevent any possible biological contamination of this remarkable environment from a future random collision with the spacecraft, once its fuel was exhausted. ... When NASA announced its 'Galileo into Jupiter' option, among those to publish immediate, serious objections was an engineer named Jacco van der Worp. Van der Worp claimed that, plunging into Jupiter's deep and increasingly dense atmosphere, the on-board Galileo electrical power supply -- a set of 144 plutonium-238 fuel pellets, arrayed in two large canister devices called 'TGs' -- would ultimately 'implode'; that the plutonium Galileo carried would ultimately collapse in upon itself under the enormous pressures of Jupiter's overwhelming atmosphere -- Triggering a runaway nuclear explosion! Van der Worp further argued that this fission reaction might well initiate a much larger thermonuclear fusion reaction in the deuterium (heavy hydrogen) making up a significant percentage of Jupiter's atmosphere -- ultimately, igniting Jupiter as the solar system's second sun!"

     ... astronomy . geology ...
"The Flat Earth Society is a nonpartisan, non-profit and nondenominational membership organisation dedicated to improving the understanding of the nature of reality through pataphysical inquiry, empirical investigation and the exchange of ideas. While the Society is not a 'crackpot' group, it is opposed to the fashionable, politically correct Spherical Earth theory, which is expounded every day by so-called 'scientists,' the media and political leaders. The Society asserts that the Earth is flat and has five sides, that all places in the Universe named Springfield are merely links in higher-dimensional space to one place, and that all assertions are true in some sense, false in some sense, meaningless in some sense, true and false in some sense, true and meaningless in some sense, false and meaningless in some sense, and true false and meaningless in some sense."

cranky Halton Arp's discoveries about redshift 2003 Oct 30
     ... astronomy . cosmology ...
"If the lines in the spectrum of the light from a star or galaxy appear at a lower frequency (shifted toward the red) than where they are observed in the spectrum of the Sun, we say this object has 'positive redshift'. The accepted explanation for this effect is that the object must be moving away from us. This interpretation is drawn by analogy with the downward shift in the pitch of a train whistle as it passes through a railroad crossing and then speeds away from us. The question is: 'Is recessional velocity the only thing that can produce a redshift, as modern astrophysicists presume?' It has become clear that the answer to that question is an emphatic 'NO!'"

Marines can come home when Oil is Bankrupt, to protect the next Laci Peterson from being murdered by her Husband ... 5 Sept. 2003 5 am Leslie Coon's 48th BDay Today -- Happy Birthday Leslie Coon ... All is fair in love and war, I wrote a proposal to my girlfriend Leslie to help and inspire us to get a cure for breast cancer for the 40k women who will die in 2004, 2005 from breast cancer. I am home alone. Leslie and I are best friends but have not started working on 1,001 inventions or a breast cancer cure. Leslie has been gone for 4 weeks (on 1 Sept.) since reading my proposal she just took off from Boulder and has not been back or called. I leave her a phone message a day. I did convince Leslie we can get the breast cancer cure by telling her of my other inventions besides the electric windmill car, I have over 100 inventions besides the electric windmill car and some are very impressive.. I hoped to impress Leslie enough to accept my proposal -- I will have to wait. I said to her today lets get on to it and get to work on 1,001 invention projects and a cure for breast cancer as I am ripe and ready to work 24/7 for 30 days to say the least. Observers in our Orwellian society are part of our life, run our life so the decision to work 24/7 is not just up to Leslie and Greg but who ever runs things in our Orwellian society."

Perhaps the trails function as a deflector screen to alter the effects of gravity between these two celestial bodies. Was it a change in the earth's orbit around the sun that was effected? Is this how you pilot a planet through the milky way galaxy?"

"Satellite data is gradually confirming what alternative theorists have been suggesting for years; that the moon controls the weather. Apart from being rather obvious, and so not such a bizarre notion, and it means that with the right mathematical techniques, weather can be predicted way into the future. Stone circles like Stonehenge, said to be at least 4,000 and maybe up to 50,000 years old, were nothing less than weather and climate calculators. The very word 'measurement' is derived from 'moon.' This is not pseudo-astrology, shamanism, wizardry, New Age, not the occult or voodoo but plain basic science and logic."

cranky GammaRayBurst 2002 Oct 04
     ... astronomy ...
"My theory predicts that the afterglows in different parts of the emr spectrum will be similar in profile to that of the gammaray lightcurve. This is shown in the illustration above using verifiable observations. The prediction would be that other unmeasured lightcurves like x-rays would also have similar profiles as their counterpart in gamma. The shorter the wavelength the shorter the timescale That is; in x-ray the burst duration would be shorter than optical and longer than gamma. Due to the nature of the source of the Gamma ray burst it may be possible that if the same burst were observed by two different satellites which were far enough apart from each other the burst would appear to come from two different locations. Actually gamma ray bursts are only optical illusions or mirages. The true location of the burst is at the point of observation."

cranky The Dark Matter Myth 2002 Oct 04
     ... physics . astronomy ...
"The shape of galactic rotation curves (i.e., the galactic rotation velocity as a function of the distance from the galactic center), has led astronomers to the conclusion that galaxies must be surrounded by an invisible massive halo of 'dark matter' which exceeds the visible mass by up to 10 times (see detailed review of this and related theories). The underlying assumption with this model is that gravity is the only force determining the dynamics of the galaxy. However, practically all rotation curves indicating the existence of dark matter have been obtained by observing the Doppler shift of gas (usually the 21 cm line of hydrogen) rather than of stars. It is generally assumed that the gas provides a tracer for the motion of the stars, but this assumption neglects the fact that ionized atoms are very much affected by electromagnetic forces: it is easy to show that with the generally assumed galactic magnetic field of 10-6 Gauss, the Lorentz force on a thermal proton is about 10 orders of magnitude stronger than the gravitational force (assuming a galaxy of the mass and size of the Milky Way) and should therefore completely determine the dynamics of the plasma, which in turn should also have an impact on the neutral gas because of recombination. Even a large additional amount of dark matter would therefore be insignificant for the galactic gas dynamics."

     ... astronomy . chemistry . meteorology ...
"Scroll down for flowers and rings ... The solar furnace would be in orbit approximatly 5 000 000 km from the sun. Standard solar furnace designs (such as the commercial one in france) will be suitable for this purpose. It will be different in that instead of using the light to produce steam it will instead use a Fresnel lens or a prism to separate the light into it's individual wavelengths. The light will then be transmitted to a geostationary earth orbit sattelite for transmission to earth. It is necessary to do this to reduce interferrence scattering of the light. At the output side of the fresnel lens or the prism will be bundles of optical fibers, these will be used to aim all identical wavelengths of light at the same mirror. From there the beam will be aimed at an ocean station on earth to be converted to hydrogen and oxygen, or into the stratosphere to destroy the molecules that cause pollution, depending on their wavelength. The wavelengths aimed through the stratosphere would be only the specific wavelengths required to destroy chlorofluorocarbons, chlorine monoxide, sulfur dioxide etc. These beams would not strike the earth, but would pass through the stratosphere and back out coming within 15 km from earth. This would give them twice the time as an earthbound laser to strike their target molecules from each km3 of seawater distilled the following chemicals and minerals can be recovered ..."

As such it is a highly successful model and is one of the models which modern physics calls Machian, after the famous physicist Ernst Mach. ... "... is a new theory of evolution and the origin of life on Earth. It holds that life on Earth was seeded from space, and that life's evolution to higher forms depends on genetic programs that come from space. It is a wholly scientific, testable theory for which evidence is accumulating. The first point, which deals with the origin of life on Earth, is known as panspermia - literally, 'seeds everywhere.' Its earliest recorded advocate was the Greek philosopher Anaxagoras, who influenced Socrates. However, Aristotle's theory of spontaneous generation came to be preferred by science for more than two thousand years. Then on April 9, 1864, French chemist Louis Pasteur announced his great experiment disproving spontaneous generation as it was then held to occur. In the 1870s, British physicist Lord Kelvin and German physicist Hermann von Helmholtz reinforced Pasteur and argued that life could come from space. And in the first decade of the 1900s, Swedish chemist and Nobel laureate Svante Arrhenius theorized that bacterial spores propelled through space by light pressure were the seeds of life on Earth."

Students, teachers and professors who have a solid background of mathematics and/or physics can easily examine what I say by yourselves. If you think my first article does not sufficiently shake down today's MATHEMATICS, my second incoming article 'Yun-Qi Kingdom -- Fundamental Two' will clearly show you that the MATHEMATICS we have used for centuries is also considerably and lawlessly WRONG. Please do not use today's knowledge as your prejudices to cut immediately what I have said down. Try to investigate it first. Certain astronomical papers have been published pin-pointing its presence in the Oort Cloud. Contrary to the previously held beliefs that Nibiru is a terrestrial world, it can be shown that it is, in fact, a failed star, known as a brown dwarf. This Dark Companion of the Sun has its own planetary system, home to the 'gods' of the ancient world. Building upon the scientific and mythological foundations of the Dark Star Theory, I have offered detailed, and radical, new evidence that its last appearance in the planetary solar system was in the guise of the Messianic Star, heralding the advent of Christ."

The last section includes some general books that deal with a broader range of pseudo-scientific topics. Instructors can use the enormous media and student interest in some of these topics as a way of generating discussion and thought about what constitutes science and about how the scientific method allows us to test hypotheses and determine whether nature really works in the way they claim."

crankiest The Origin of the Stars 2000 Jul 13
     ... astronomy . Scientific Creationism ...
"52 reasons why stellar evolution is wrong. Stars could not possibly evolve from gas. Even if they could, it would be totally impossible for binaries and globular clusters to be accidentally set in place. Here you will find scientific facts. Evolutionary theory is a myth; creation science is correct. God created everything; the evidence clearly points to it."

fringe Dinosaur Extinction: The Volcano-Greenhouse Theory 2000 Jul 02
     ... science . evolution . paleontology . astronomy . geology ...
"The cause of the K-T [Cretaceous-Tertiary] extinctions is one of the great mysteries in science, and many scientists have proposed theories to account for it. Theories span a vast spectrum of causes including: sea level change, supernova explosions, climate change, and on and on. Beginning in the 1980s, two new theories became the topic of an intense scientific debate. They are the K-T impact extinction theory originated by the Nobelist physicist, Luis Alvarez, and his team, and the K-T Deccan Traps volcanism-induced carbon cycle perturbation extinction theory which I originated, which, for short, I call the volcano-greenhouse theory."

cranky A New Supernova Theory 2000 Apr 26
     ... astronomy . nuclear physics ...
"A proposd new supernova theory tends to actually predict such formations and provides possible clues that the current stellar models are wrong. ... The new supernova model assumes that a supernova star will continue to fuse elements beyond iron and such fusion is a cooling and energy storage process. That stored energy can then later be released in a fission chain reaction and/or explosion."

"I am not a believer in astrology. I am interested in the history of astrology because of its importance to astronomy and religion. Objects and events in the sky have long been important to humans. I am fascinated by the possibility that catastrophic events with an astronomical origin have played a crucial role over the last few millenia in the development of human culture."

crankiest The Earth Is Not Moving 2000 Mar 24
     ... Scientific Creationism . astronomy ...
"The belief that the Earth is rotating on an 'axis' and orbiting the sun is the granddaddy of all deceptions in the world today ... Read and know that: All of the precise calculations for the space program are baed on a non-moving Earth ... All of the precise calculations describing eclipses are based on a non-moving Earth ... Indeed, all calculations bearing on navigation, on satellite movements, on anythingstationary Earth ... Know also: That that the Bible teaches that the Earth is not moving and can not be moved ... That mathematics have been invented specifically to uphold Copernicanism. There is no real evidence that the Earth moves ... That the logic against a moving Earth is both abundant and overpowering ... That the exposure of this great lie will precipitate back to the Bible movement that will shake the world ..."

fringe White Mars 2000 Mar 06
     ... science . astronomy . planetology ...
"I began to suspect that there was something wrong with the standard model of Mars a couple of years ago when excitement was building over the Pathfinder mission to Mars. The existence of an excellent photorchive of Viking era orbital images of Mars facilitated my study of the planet, and I brought in a few threads of seabed studies from my own work, and vulcanology, inspired by the repeated rumblings of the Soufriere hills volcano on Martinique. This is a research endeavour facilitated and inspired by the Web, allowing me in Australia to look at the latest NASA images of Mars and piece together a new story of water, or lack of it, on Mars. This seriously changes how we view Mars. I'm sorry to all those whose research it will disrupt, or whose plans for Mars will need to be changed, but better we catch up with this now rather than later when too much energy and money has been spent pursuing the wrong targets. It doesn't end the story of water on Mars, but it certainly makes some things harder to do. On the other hand, some things get easier, so there's a trade-off ..."

"... will increasingly reflect almost twenty years of research aimed at understanding the social and physical influence of a large comet, in a short-period Earth-threatening orbit. This object, according to astronomical evidence, has been progressively breaking up since the Holocene time period began. The result of such debris scattering was to increase the likelihood of Earth's climate being affected by periodic interaction with extraterrestrial material during this most recent time period."

parody Flat Earth Society 1999 Dec 05
     ... science . astronomy ...
"For over five hundred years humanity has believed the 'round Earth' teachings of Efimovich and his followers. But all hope is not lost. For through all that time, a small but diligent band of individuals have preserved the knowledge of our planet's true shape. And now, after centuries in the Dark Ages, we believe that mankind as a whole is once again ready to embrace the truth that has forever been the Flat Earth Society. Using whatever means are deemed necessary and relying heavily on a callous disregard for the lives and well-being of our members, we have slowly but steadily been spreading the news. But why? Why do we say the Earth is flat, when the vast majority says otherwise? Because we know the truth."

     ... catastrophism . astronomy . apocalypse . science fiction ...
"Geophysical science offers rather thin explanations for the periods of history during which great glaciers advanced and retreated from the polar regions, leaving a great deal of physical evidence. The more one delves into the actual evidence, the more skeptical one becomes of the existing theories. The truth, according to the HAB Theory, is that periodically -- at intervals ranging from 3000 to 7000 years but averaging around 5500 years apart -- great global cataclysms have occurred which destroyed virtually all of whatever life forms or civilizations had developed on the Earth to that point."

"... is a scientific non-profit corporation run by a seven-member board. It was founded in 1991 in response the broad problem of getting support to do research on promising but unpopular alternative ideas in astronomy which have trouble getting funded from the usual sources. The organization supports and encourages research or observations in connection with astronomical theories that are in accord with observations and experiment, add insight or understanding, and make testable predictions; but that are not otherwise supported solely because they lie outside of the mainstream of theories in astronomy."
